Dear John

The Question My Individual Salvation is not going to come about without a collective salvation for the country. -President Obama   My bible doesn’t tell me that how bout you?

The Answer Yes, very racist. Phonso, you should be ashamed of yourself. We come from a poor and run-down neighborhood that those same conservatives could care less about. Maybe self reflection or a therapy session regarding self-hate could shed some light on your mentality. Tokens are needed in every movement, are you one. I have a great website for you, www.stormfront.org

I will call this post Dear John since I received this from a close friend I grow up with and I don’t want to disclose his name. I have been putting this off and it’s time to address this issue.

To start, I will do a little self-reflection like he said. We lived in the inner city of Kansas City where crime and drugs run rapid. I even experienced a shoot out the first week in the neighborhood. I also was made to take off my shirt because I was wearing the wrong color in the neighborhood. The majority of my friends from the neighborhood decided to abuse drugs and alcohol on a daily basis for whatever reason. So reflecting, what did the neighborhood teach me? What did I learn? I think of two things my mother told me on the first day of kindergarten. First, “People will judge you on the company you keep.” Second, “If you don’t know something, never be ashamed to admit it. I would rather you be stupid than ignorant.” Those two principles got me through and it opened my eyes to life outside of the inner city. Enough reflection for now and let’s get to the point of the post.

The topic for this post for my friend, and to the country at large, is accountability. I read today that as this country continues to crumble with unemployment rates at 9.5 percent, Detroit school’s graduation rate at 25 percent and 500 murders in Mr. Obama’s hometown last year, Obama’s approval rate in the black community is 88 percent. I ask people in the black community, and the other communities where his approve rate is somewhere around 45 percent, when is enough, enough?  I don’t care if you’re Democrat or Republican; you have to admit things have not gotten better in the last 19 months. So why the free pass? When I discuss this question with some friends and family, they tell me it’s because he’s a black man.

For the friends and Democrats who call us Obama haters. I tell you as the bible says, “To whom much is given much is expected.” We have to hold him to a higher standard because he the leader of the free world and, more importantly, because we’re his boss and he’s accountable to us. The government works for me, I don’t work for them. I want to know how you can justify, as a tax paying citizen, that Mr. Obama has done more for unions and illegal immigrants than the working class people in this country who are the ones really hurting in this bad economy. Now, 20 months in his presidency, we’re going to talk about a bill about to help small business. So since you have given him the office he holds, what do you expect? Should we the people be third class citizens to unions and illegal immigrants?

As for the conservative caring less for where I live, I ask you the question of all questions. What have the Democrats or Liberals done for where I live?  Yes I can be a token, an Uncle Tom, a house n*gg*, sellout, and whatever else you have to throw at me because that is usually the answer to this question. For example, Kansas City has been controlled by the democrats for at least 30 or 40 years, and what is the status of the community?  It’s funny, the party you’re defending is already in charge of the town you live in and they have done nothing for your community. The same thing goes for the cities of Oakland, Chicago, and Baltimore. (3 other cities gathered from Glenn Beck show) So what have the Liberals done for you lately???

Since most people say conservative don’t have answers, let’s begin to lay the foundation for answers in America’s communities. Let’s start with accountability. Whether it’s the president, the teacher or principal at your kid’s school, the R&B singer, the preacher at our local churches, you yourself. Train you kids in the way they should go: even when he is old, he will not depart from it Proverbs 22:6 If we teach our kids to hold their leaders accountable for their actions, we wouldn’t have Charlie Rangels or Maxine Waters. We will also have leaders capable of living honorable lives. It would take more than a fake public apology to get back in good standing with the community if we install biblical values in our youth.

As I close I ask you to look at these great black American leaders. Clearance Otis Jr, Kenneth I. Chenault, Rodney O’Neal, Ronald A. Williams, Ursula M. Burns. They are all CEO’s of major companies, and Mrs. Burns is the first black female CEO of a Fortune 500 company. These are true patriots of this great country because they show us the American dream is at hand to anyone if you reach out and grab it. The only one who is stopping you from achieving your dreams is you!! My goal is to be a guest on Glenn Beck show and the only person who can stop that is me. Aim high! If a young man from the inner city of Kansas City can dream big, so can you. Don’t let anyone try to talk you down from your dreams either.

We would appreciate any comments be posted on our facebook group Independent Black Conservative Corner

Dear Americans be encouraged!!!

Dear Americans,

As I write you this letter, we are 90 days away from the next election. I ask you, what are you going with your 90 days? It has been a tough summer. We have been beaten and battered; from the Tea Party being called racist to the entire Arizona issue. For the first time in our lives, our freedom is truly at risk right in front of our very eyes. So again I ask you, 90 days till the Election Day, what are you going to do? It’s been a particularly difficult week for me. Being worn down from the bigot and Uncle Tom slurs can really take it out of you. I must admit, I started to question what difference I was making in the grand scheme of things. It was as if I was breathing a deep breath of fresh air when my 9 year old daughter came over for the weekend, it renewed my spirit, drive, and my reason for doing this. As I thought about what I want to do for her generation, I thought about the great Americans who had come before me. The dedicated men and women of the past who sacrificed so much for us; from Martin Luther King, George Washington, Medgar Evers, Abraham Lincoln and Susie B Anthony. What is so impressive about all of these people is they share one common trait; they were self-less. Do you have this self-less trait, and more importantly, are you using it? I know with the Arizona judgment a lot of people have gotten discouraged, so here’s a little something to cheer you up. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33. So let’s be encouraged! We are almost in the home stretch to our first step; 90 days till Election Day. I ask you to examine what you truly believe; it is going to get worse before it gets better. Are your riches more important than you freedoms? Are your friendships worth you freedoms? Is your freedom worth your freedoms? And what is your relationship with God worth to you? These are things you should know beyond the shadow of a doubt; just in case it comes to that. Make sure you’re sure. As I close, I would like to give you one more scripture to think about this week. Where no wise counsel is, the people fail: but in the multitude of wise counselors is safety. Proverbs 11:14 So my question for you is; do you have wise council in your life? If the answer is no, please take the time to get a few friends that can help keep your eye on the prize because November will be here before we know it. Let me use this moment to thank my wise council in my life when I need it; My Mom and Dad, Sister North, Bishop Douglass, Pastor Brown, Ladrain, Maurice, Darrell, Pam and my new friend in this journey we call conservatism Kenneth and even my younger cousin Joshua ( thanks for the editing), who while younger than my entire list, still surprises me with some of the things he says. (Some of these people do not share my views, but are instrumental in the young man I have become.) Finally, 90 days left till the election; what are you going to do??

Being of good cheer

Endorsing Candidates

I’ve had many requests to have Independent Black Conservative Corner endorse candidates. I don’t believe it’s our mission to endorse candidates, I think that the candidate you choose to vote for in Nov is a personal choice. I don’t want to slant anyone’s view on which candidate is good for America. It’s you duty as an American citizen to research and check out each candidate for yourself. I have one request please check out all candidates on both sides and judge them on their merits and character. We have to long voted with party lines, let’s hold Washington accountable. If your particular party is not getting it done please hold them accountable make them earn your vote. The only way to end this foolishness we call politics is to vote for people who have the people’s interests at heart not their own agenda. Just a little fact to live by; To whom much is giving much is expected.

The true story of the Unemployed

As congress passes the unemployment extension I see the way, to many people talk as if these people do not need this money.  I also want to dispel that all conservative are rich because I’m far from that. I’m going to go against my personal belief and tell you my personal story, but I think it must be heard.

Let me start at the Beginning I was an auto worker for 8 years making around 50 thousand a year. When the economy tanked so did car sales, so after 8 years Ford decided to eliminate the second shift of the plant that my job was associated with. That was 23 months ago, since I was a dislocated worker I qualified for a program that would pay for retraining. So I decide to get retrained in IT which at the time seemed like a good Ideal. I attended a local trade school which gave me entry-level IT skills with a chance to change fields. The problem was as I attended school Sprint had a significant layoff which flooded the market with experienced IT professionals.

Now fast forward for the last 5 months volunteering at a non for profit that refurbishes computers. I apply daily for between 5 to 10 jobs. I’m in a pickle because I made 50 grand a year on my last job, so McDonald’s or Wal-Mart will not hire me because of the over qualified spew. I have also had 3 interviews here recently, but I lack the experience to obtain an IT job. The last interview I had been with   one of the biggest Architect firms in American. They started with 10 candidates, and I was fortune to be one of the final 3. I was later told that man who got the job had masters in IT, remember this was for an entry-level position. Thank god I’m in my 30’s I have friends in their 50’s who can not even get an interviews.

So when people are called lazy for get the benefits it truly pisses me off, because I have done all I can do on my end. This layoff has killed my credit score, has gotten me into foreclosure, and has thoroughly ruined my nice life.  With that said I want to commend the Republicans for doing trying to do right by our future generations. I have not received an unemployment check in 6 weeks and cannot afford to  pay my cell phone bill, but my child’s future is not worth my current happiness.

It’s sad when we as a country are all about fixing today instead of doing right by our children’s future. With that statement, I’m talking about Democrats and yes I did not miss type as I am inclined to do. We have 230 billion from tarp just sitting there they have the audacity to allow the senate use 16 billion dollars for the finanical reform bill, but they would not use some to pay for the unemployment extension. The real travesty in this whole unemployment topic the Republicans are not the party of no they are just trying to uphold a law that democrats passed. Does anyone remember pay go? Remember this is from a guy that is as broke as it gets. It is all about principle and I would wait six more weeks, and would walk everywhere instead of catching the bus as I am currently doing. Even though, lack of unemployment checks is a sad reality we have to follow laws  no matter how bad the fall out my be.

Finally, I do not want anyone’s sympathy, I want a congress that will stand for their values and demonstrate true integrity. Let’s stop playing politics, I can be broke for two more months if they have the guts to leave this country better for our kids. I do not want the president of the United States in 20 years blaming us for the problems there having then. Four once in can we do right by our Children’s future it’s bad when you spend money before you get it.

I would ask that people take the time to exam the whole situation before passing judgment on people. I also would like to say that if you are fired in the state of Missouri you cannot qualify for unemployment, so only deserving people qualify for the program.

Finally, everyone who says these people do not deserve it, remember these are people range from middle management, to production workers and include the Educated and non- educated. Remember these people were not fired this was product of the government dropping the ball with the mortgage crisis. For those  able to hold on to their cushy job, remember economists  believe double-dip recession is coming, you on the next go around.

Dear NAACP a non partisan look at the problem you have created

As a black conservative and proud American, I felt it was my duty, as that same proud American, to chime in on what is quite possibly the worst week in modern American history since 9/11.  As I sit here, my thoughts in a constant flow, I think of an amazing American, Pat Tillman, who gave up his football career for the chance to serve his country, as a barely into adulthood 20 year old. At that time, I felt as if there were no way I would have done the same.  However, as a 32 year old man with a daughter, I have a newfound respect for the sacrifice Mr. Tillman gave for his country. If there were to be a draft this very moment, and duty called for a legitimate reason, I would have no problem putting my life on the line for the sake of my country.

That said, with the rants from the NAACP and New Black Panther Party this week, I have never in my life been as worried for my freedom, that I have foolishly taken for granted for years, until this week.  People who study history understand that the biggest threat to America is not the foreign terrorist; it’s the domestic terrorist on our own soil. Just how did the Roman Empire that we know today become an empire in the first place? It’s a little known fact among most people, but, the Roman Empire used to be the Roman Republic. One of the largest factors that led to the Roman’s transition to that of an empire, as opposed to a republic, was division. The republic had found itself weakened and divided through multiple civil wars throughout its land. It is in that same direction that this country is headed, and in many ways, is already there!  One of the biggest problems with America is not unlike those of the Romans in the past, and that very problem is division. The NAACP is playing right into that sense of division. With the history of those before us we, as a people, should be more than aware what division does to us as a society. That’s how every great society in history has fallen and we are not too big to fail, despite the thoughts and opinions many Americans believe today. America is still a young country. Compared to the rest of the world, America would be considered a teenager. Though, as with teenagers and the young alike, America has the advantage of learning from those before them and not falling into the same pitfalls that befell their predecessors.

As a black man, let me get straight the point. Let’s stop all the smoke and mirrors about oppression. Stop all this foolishness going on in 2010. In 1950 and prior, we had oppression. Let me apologize on behalf of any white people whose ancestors held black people captive in slavery here and now, though to continue to dwell on that black spot in our history as a united people some 150 years later is not productive by the NAACP. Redistribution of wealth, which the NAACP and the Obama Administration is trying to spread, is not empowering the black community in any way whatsoever. The reason blacks are a non-factor in the political process is that the majority of blacks haven’t taught themselves that money is influence, and power. Blacks have rappers, athletes, and businesses that take their money and do not make an effort to bring money back to the community. Let me take the chance to clarify that and thank Magic Johnson for putting money into the community. Until the black community is far more self sufficient and assertive, we will never be relevant in the political process. That’s not a problem whites have given the black community. People within the black community are far too busy buying out the bar at night clubs, toting 400 dollar couch bags, or wasting money on the newest gadget.

As for the subject of the NAACP calling the Tea Party racist? I am so tired of hearing the very word racism. I have heard that someone is racist more in the last 19 months than I have in my entire 32 years of being alive.  Simply because someone doesn’t agree with your views, it does more harm than good to call someone racist without substantiated facts. You can’t hear both sides of an argument as black people when someone yells racism. Though that was the plan all along it seems. Let’s ask a more serious question now. How are they, the NAACP, advancing colored people when they’re playing politics? You cannot be in bed with politicians as an organization which is trying to advance a particular group of people! Black people have a 19 percent unemployment rate, but they would rather hand you a government check than help you find a job or create more within the community. If you don’t call this modern day slavery, then there’s something wrong.

Onto to my final issue in this entire fiasco that has been playing out this week. Let’s say, for the sake of argument, the Tea Party is, actually, racist. As a leader, you have to demonize all racist groups not just the ones that go against your agenda. For all of you who do not know what the new Black Panther movement is; I posted a video so you can see what racism really looks like.  The new Black Panther party is a group that believes you have to KILL CRACKERS AND THEIR BABIES. Yes, you read that right. The Department of Justice is under fire right now for giving these people a lighter sentence for voter intimidation, but most of you won’t know that because it didn’t make the news.  Also, Bill Ayers and the weather underground was a terrorist group in the 60′s, who now worked hand and hand with the president of America. They tried to blow up the pentagon in the 60′s. These are all facts you can find with Google. Please don’t take my word for it.

I understand some people who are reading this are NAACP supporters. All I want is for the NAACP to not have a double standard.  If you say the Tea party is racist, you also have to call out the New Black Panther Party, Strom, Weather Underground, and Communists of America ( Groups provide by the Glen Beck show). These people have the desire to destroy the America as we know it and are serious threats to our country. They believe that if you can create chaos you can force revolution.  Please, please use goggle and research the five groups I put in this posting. We were warned many times before 9/11 and we didn’t take those people seriously. Please take these people I posted seriously. They’re not after buildings; they want your country and freedom. The President is in lock and step with people in these organizations. I’m not saying those are his views, but my mom always told me ‘if you hang around thugs you are perceived as a thug’. He went to Harvard so I’ll let you decide what this president believes.

We are truly at a crossroads in our country and I will leave you with something to chew on.

To the NAACP and the Black community- The past is forever a part of us, it’s what we do with it that determines our future. (Janice Redmond)  We have been separated as a society before and how did it work for us in the past? America grows as a cohesive unit. With unity comes prosperity and with division comes civil war. Which one do you want??

Black panther video is this racism why aren’t NAACP condemn this also??

Have you been bamboozled by the NAACP?

Let start this blog post thanking Ms. Hudson for enraging me enough at 4 am to set the record straight. Let me give you a bases for this blog post, she emailed me and told me the following statements. That I can’t blame Obama for high unemployment rates because racisms is partly to blame for that.  Also that I’m confused, misguided, and that I am undereducated, because I watch fox news.  I most have a lot of children and that I have a white woman.  Oh can’t forget I’m a dork too. Yeah all that in a one page email,  the email came from  something I  posted on NAACP facebook page. Let me start by saying I maybe a dork, but Steve Jobs, Paul Allen, Bill Gates, Steve Urkale ,and all the guys at goggle are dorks. How’s it working out for them??

Now to the root of the real problem the NAACP. Let me take the time to save all the people reading this from the NAACP site the time. Yes, I have already been called uncle Ruckus and Uncle Tom this year. Please take the time when you post your response to come up with something a little more creative.  I prefer something like a well spoken articulate conservative black man. Just saying!!!

As you all may know this week in Kansas City NAACP is holding their national convention. As a young black male this was supposed to be a special week for me,  considering I reside in Kansas City, and the black leaders are in town right?  As I watched the likes of Jesse Jackson and Michelle Obama come through and give their sales pitching on their current agenda’s from Children’s obesity to the Arizona Law.  I couldn’t help and wonder where it all went wrong for the NAACP.  As we watch the  Black community self destruct with;  19 percent unemployment rate, 25 percent graduate rate in Detroit, Chicago with 500+ murders in 2009. I keep asking myself when is this going to be an issue for the people who were founded to Advancement of  Colored People as the name entails?

See the biggest problem I have is after 40 years we are still blaming Caucasians for all our problems.  When are we going to take responsibility,  we can’t blame racisms for everything? For example, with the down turn in the Auto industry it has wiped out a lot of black middle class in America. Can we blame Caucasians for the lack of knowledge not being spread by the NAACP? If you were trying to advance colored people you should have told the people in the auto industry like my dad told me, “ This  is a nice job, but it’s a temporary fix you don’t have any employable skills if you get laid off”. Now we have all these people who have no employable skills in our community looking for middle class pay without middle class skills. W need to start stressing education in the black community since  only 21 percent black people in the work force have a four year degree compared to 33 percent Caucasian is this Caucasian faults too?

For the people who say it’s not their fault I ask you is backing redistribution of wealth going to improve our community or country? No, it’s going to make us  slaves to the government and that’s not American.  Let’s just look at the people who have power in our country.  Jews have influence because they keep their money in their community.  Caucasians have political power because they have an entrepreneur spirit and grow businesses.  And we are going to be passed by the Latino community  because they have  a whatever it takes to get ahead mentality and they are imparting that into their youth. Now to the black community what has your leaders installed in us besides being the biggest consumer demographic in America. Now in your life time I ask you has there ever been a black leader talking about empowering yourself by growing wealth? And of course the answer is no and there lays our problem!!! So in 40 years we lost our Dads in the home and the ability to teach the value of a dollar. And let me guess Caucasians fault to right?

So if you have been bamboozled by the get rich quick politicians like Jesse and Al it’s time to hold them accountable.  It’s  going to take  more than political grandstanding to advance are community. Let’s talk about real change in our communities like growing small business in our communities. These kids are killing each other because there are  no jobs in their community.  Let’s get a voucher system which will level out the playing field and improve the quality of everyone’s schools. Let’s help get Washington out of business you can’t create jobs when you don’t have read tape. All you have to do is look at the city of Cleveland OH where they have read tape and the city of Austin TX low taxes and little government read tape. All I have to say is when your city depends on a sport athletic for revenue I think that speaks to the problems in that city . As for the Austin TX  it’s one of the fastest growing cities for business and population because of low taxes and little red tape on businesses that’s a model we should be copying not Europe. I’m just saying!!!

In closing let me say I’m not here to bad month the NAACP it has just run its course it’s no longer the organization that MR. King endorsed. By inciting race into every conversation it’s basically eliminating the most important right Mr. King and so my others gave their lives for.  That is freedom of speech a wise old man once told me there’s your story my story and the truth. If we as country keep letting  people use race so you can’t hear my side how can you get to the truth?  You may not agree  with what the Tea Party stands for, but it’s our reasonability as Americans to hear everyone’s opinion because through good debate democracy’s grows.  At Independent Black Conservative Corner we challenge you to like all the parties on facebook. I currently post comments on the democratic pages, republican pages, liberal pages, and conservative pages. To truly understand our country we must understand everyone has a view and everyone has the right to be heard.

One more thing Ms Hudson I currently do not have a white woman, but I also don’t see it as problem because to each his own. A once great leader of the NAACP said to judge a man on the content of his character not the color of his skin. As for kids Ms. Hudson I also don’t fall in to your stereotype I have one daughter who I have joint custody of and who I believe that God holds me accountable for. It’s my sole responsibility to teach her the past of this great nation and to teach her that she has the chance to succeed at whatever she choices to do, and never let race determine who you are as a person or what  you feel or think of other people. Also if you going to respond  to the post please post it on the wall not in a private email @ our face book page Independent Black Conservative Corner so people can get your side of the story.

I’m just saying!!!!

What does Independence mean to you?

As we embark on our country’s 234th birthday I posse a question to you.  What does independence mean to you? As I looked at the history of Independence Day I realized that we have truly watered down the importance of this day in our history. There’s more to this day than Aunt Sally’s jitter bug that hasn’t been seen since Roosevelt was in office, or where your kids are going to get their fireworks. I ask you again, what does independence mean to you?  Whatever your idea is have you imparted that into your children’s lives? In 20 years, they will be in this position, and we can’t go another generation with a watered down history or it may be totally lost.  What does Independence mean to me? Well, independence to me means;  liberty, freedom, the courage to do right even when it’s not politically correct, to live by majority rules even when it goes against what I believe, honor, and the right to find happiness in my life unimpeded.  The biggest thing independence has taught me is, I have the right to fail.  I think in our society today this is the one of the biggest thing that has been lost, as Americans we only have the right to the pursuit of happiness. This has been missed in our current culture and  has created what I call the “trust fund baby syndrome” in our society people think their entitled to everything. And it’s totally rotten us from the core.  Since it’s the holiday I’m going to cut this post a little short, but I would ask that you do three things as you and your family enjoy those blessing from God we call independence. First, drink one for the courage and honor that are fore fathers showed to get us independence. Two, Impart that there’s more today this day than bottle rockets and fire crackers. And finally three, Have a safe and blessed fourth and enjoy friends and family, because as my family found out this past year tomorrow is not guaranteed to anyone… RIP Sweet Pe

The Silent Killer of the Black Community

This post actually begins 5 years ago. I was pulling into the garage after picking my daughter up from daycare. As I turned the car off my daughter said, “Daddy, I’m not suppose to be listening to that.” I was playing an E-40 song. It was amazing to me that a 4 year old knew better and I didn’t.  At that moment, I officially gave up main stream radio, all rap music, and music television channels (VH1, MTV,BET, etc) because I was now a parent and I needed to start acting like it.  As I come up to my five year anniversary to that day I thought I would make a post to wake other people up.  My daughter is now nine, and as we spent time with family this weekend we caught the BET music awards over a cousin’s house. It was the first time I had seen BET in two years, over someone else’s house you can’t dictate what they watch so I can’t say I haven’t seen BET in the entirety of the 5 year period of my anniversary, and as I watched I realized why. You can only hear so much of a song called “Neighbors know my name” with a nine year old sitting next to you. Now, to all of the parents reading this with second/third graders, I will bet you that your child knows who Trey Songs is. However, are you sure if he knows who Thomas Jefferson or Fredrick Douglass are?  Most people try to shelter their kids from R rated movies but go on to let their kids listen to hip hop radio, watch BET, or worse still, BOTH! There is nothing on the radio today or on BET for an elementary school age child. So what’s the difference between a Rated R movie and some of these rap songs on the radio or videos on Bet? Today in our community, kids are learning what sex is from the radio at five and six years old and it’s happening  right underneath our nose. The problem is that we are all complicit in this process. To the parents of fifth/sixth graders, I guarantee that your kids know a song by Drake, but  they don’t the  fifth and sixth amendments of the bill of rights. The history of BET is a nice story. A black owned company, but they are not doing anything to improve the status of the black community. Booty shaking videos and reality shows about has been groups trying to get back on top is not improving the lives of their audience. We currently have a 16% unemployment rate in the black community. The only way we are going to improve are community is being armed with the power of education. We need to be proactive as parents. School will only teach your kids to be in the middle of the pack as far as educational standards are concerned. It’s your responsibility to make sure your child gets to the front of the pack and has the tools to succeed.  Let’s stop blaming other people for the failures of our community. Let’s handle our parental responsibility and turn BET off and help your kids read for 30 minutes and math for 30 minutes before they go to bed. For if we don’t, if we fail our kids at such a basic fundamental level, we will have another generation of African Americans blaming the government for every failure in their life and how the world is racist when the harsh reality is that your parents failed you years earlier. The truth is every child that starts kindergarten has the same chance to get an education in America. They my have to take a  student loan out to get it, but the chance is there.  Let’s start this initiative right now. Assign your child daily writing assignments and math questions to improve their skills and keep what they’ve learned in the last school year fresh. Anything is possible in this great country we call America, but only if we can cut these cancers out of our kids lives like BET and Hip Hop music and replace them with education and proper guidance…

P.S  this not only applies to the Black community, but this can be applied to all communities in American!!!

Change in America?

As I sat and thought about my topic today it made me think about how the Tea party is trying to get change. I  thought about the situation we are in as a country. Yes, the politicians are a problem, but we are a bigger problem. Sad to say but the biggest problem in America is the people of America.  First, take the law in Arizona for instance we have people in the country boycotting something they can’t relate to. I live in Kansas City Mo so how can I truly have an opinion on the situation in Arizona?  I haven’t truly experienced life in Arizona, where they are being over ran by people who are not here legally. Second, is unemployment extension I get tried of hearing people who are in a nice comfortable jobs say that an unemployment extension is keeping people from looking for jobs. You can’t look for jobs that aren’t there. The fact is that in the Month of May we created just  thirteen thousand private sector  jobs in this country that’s it. They say take a lesser job, but it’s kinda hard to walk into an interview and say i made sixty thousand on my last job, but I will give you all I have on this one.  Because your going to get the old over qualified conversation. See the problem with Americans is that we’re all about self . Our government in Washing ton is more concerned about the undocumented workers here than the welfare and safety of the citizens  because of self interests. As for the unemployed people who need those checks to pay their bills reality is these people will loss homes and cars. People are so against that checks for these people, but we have 212 billion dollars of tarp just sitting there if were going help Fannie and Freddie with a blank check help the little guy. Finally, I love the Tea Party movement and the message they stand for, but if going change this country we have to change self.  Our founding fathers sacrificed fortunes and other things for your freedoms can you sacrifice self for the common good of America?

Is Dr. King’s dream too lofty?

As I watched TV today I saw that after 99 years John Wooden died, and as they talked about how great he was they told a story on how the Lakers offered him 10 times his salary to leave UCLA and he said no.  I was truly amazed at what character  he demonstrated with that action. It made me think of MLK and something he said in his I have a dream speech, he wanted a world that judged his kids on the content of their character not the color of their skin. That story really stuck with me all day. I found myself on an elevator with an Arabic man with a back pack. As I sat there and stared at the back pack and wondered what was in it I realized that in my personal  life at times I wasn’t living up to Dr. King’s dream. As I look at the deterioration of the black community and are black leaders  we have forgetting what character is. From Tiger Woods and his problems with his wife, to President Obama backing out of his word with transparency, and Just the hip-hop community in general we have forgotten his dream.  Webster dictionary defines character as: moral excellence and firmness. Do you carry yourself as Dr. King would have wanted you to?  Do your kids truly understand the importance of character in their lives ? Finally who is teaching your children character,  their hard-working parents or 50 cent and Jay-Z? I ask that we take the summer to lay the ground work to bring character back to this great country we all love. Without character Washington will stay Washington, men will continue to act like little boys when it comes to handle their responsibility with their kids, and 12-year-old girls will continue to act like there 30 if there not taught character.  What are you going to do?
